We work with children, disabled people, and vulnerable adults, often in low-light outdoor settings. Safeguarding is not a bolt-on for us — it is part of how we design and run every installation.
How we hold it
One director is our Designated Safeguarding Lead, accountable for safeguarding across everything we deliver: Dan Gauden is our Designated Safeguarding Lead, and Kubi May is our Deputy Safeguarding Lead, who takes the lead role when Dan is unavailable. Both directors hold safeguarding training — Dan’s through his school-based work, Kubi’s through her professional training and practice. The Safeguarding Lead receives and manages any concern, keeps records, liaises with statutory authorities where needed, and makes sure the people delivering our work are briefed before they start.
When we work inside a host venue, we identify the venue’s own safeguarding lead and share contacts both ways, so a concern raised on site reaches the right person quickly, whoever first hears it.
What we require before delivery
Anyone who will have unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable adults holds a current enhanced DBS check before that work begins. Everyone delivering our work receives a safeguarding induction before their first day, and roles involving that contact are recruited with safeguarding built into the process. A clear code of conduct governs how our people behave around the children and vulnerable adults we work with.
Safe to be in
Because our audiences include sensory-sensitive and neurodivergent visitors, safeguarding and access are the same conversation for us. Quieter sessions, predictable environments, clear ways to step out, and a sensory-safety review of anything visitors experience directly are part of how we keep people safe — not only from harm, but from overwhelm.
Status
We are an early-stage company and our safeguarding framework is being finalised: our safeguarding policy is in director review, and DBS checks and training records will be in place before any beneficiary-facing delivery. We would rather state plainly where we are than imply a maturity we have not yet reached. The full policy is held outside this vault and shared with partners and personnel on delivery.
