Interwoven Arts CIC exists to carry out three activities, declared at incorporation in CIC36 Section B. We are pre-trading: the first installation is planned for winter 2026–27, and what follows describes the operating model we are building.
The first is the design and delivery of immersive, interactive art installations using light and sound, controlled in real time by responsive technologies. Installations are designed for heritage gardens, arboretums, parks, festival environments, churches, cathedrals, and other indoor and outdoor settings, often timed to coincide with periods dominated by mainstream cultural events such as Halloween, Guy Fawkes, Christmas, and New Year, providing an alternative for those for whom these traditions do not serve.
The second is research and development. The research substance is the relationship between sound, frequency, art, physical environments and human nervous systems, and how technology can be used to increase accessibility to the communities we serve. Research and installation design are inseparable:
“Installation design and rigorous research form two inseparable arms of Interwoven Arts. Where installations are our creative expression, research is our commitment to understanding what genuinely works — and for whom.”
Each installation is designed as a living laboratory. Visitor presence triggers responses from the responsive modules, and the system captures interaction data from those responses. Where consent is given, this will be supplemented with self-reported wellbeing measures and, from a smaller sub-sample, physiological measures including heart rate variability and respiration. Research findings will drive the choice of every frequency, light wavelength, and interactive element in the next installation; data collected from each installation will drive the next research cycle.
The third is outreach: facilitating visits and adapted experiences for schools and community groups, with particular emphasis on SEN schools, children’s and adults’ respite services, and care homes.
These three activities map to the three Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes filed at Companies House: 72200 (research and experimental development on social sciences and humanities), 86900 (other human health activities), and 90010 (performing arts).
