Interwoven Arts CIC is distinctive across six structural dimensions.
-
Designed outward from beneficiary need. Installations are designed from neurodivergent sensory and cognitive experience as the baseline. The needs, rhythms, and responses of the company’s primary communities are the design specification. Accessibility is the design. (See how we do it.)
-
Research and delivery as a single loop. Installations are treated as living laboratories. Every installation generates data that feeds the next research cycle, and every research finding shapes the next installation. Discoveries immediately inform the next artwork. There is no gap between knowing and making. (See what we do and how we do it.)
-
Open-source technical architecture. The technical stack — MIDI, Pure Data, Raspberry Pi — is open-source and hackable, chosen so the system remains durable, modifiable, and freely available. The published toolkit is designed to enable other organisations to replicate sensory-accessible installation work without starting from zero. (See how we do it.)
-
Community Access Standard on every commercial commission. Every commercial commission accepted by the company carries a community access provision as a standard contract term. The host or client accommodates neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive audiences as part of how the commissioned work is presented to the public. The principle is non-negotiable; the implementation is agreed jointly. Every commission becomes a second layer of mission delivery — leaving the host site with infrastructure or commitments that benefit the company’s primary communities at that venue. (See how we do it.)
-
Asset-locked CIC with structural transparency. The Community Interest Company form locks the company’s assets to its community purpose. Any surplus is reinvested in community-benefit activities; profits and assets cannot be distributed to members or directors. On wind-up, residual assets transfer to a named asset-locked charity. The structural commitments are public, filed at Companies House, and binding. (See what a CIC is.)
-
Built coherently with AI — a working case study. The company uses AI in its work and in its running, transparently, as a working demonstration of how the technology can be integrated well — built with it, in the open, toward coherence rather than distortion. The company treats its own integration of AI as a live example of the right way to do it. (See how we work with AI.)
The art itself is also deliberate: themes draw on sacred geometry and patterns from natural systems — the same patterns that recur independently across centuries of human architecture and tuning traditions, and that produce measurably calmer responses. (See why we do it.)
Interwoven Arts sits at the intersection of immersive arts, sensory accessibility, and research toward open knowledge — aesthetically considered, technically sophisticated, responsive, co-creative, and built from the ground up to bring the nervous systems the company exists to serve into coherence.
