Relevance to Interwoven Arts
James’s core craft is taking ideas and translating them into narratives people can relate to. His film work — commercial, documentary, music — is built on this. He is a highly creative, gifted filmmaker.
His role at Interwoven Arts covers two functions. First, documenting installations and live events to create promotional and impact material for both public audiences and funders. Second, contributing to installation development from a cinematic and spatial perspective — how light, movement, and composition read on camera and in the room.
His community documentary work, particularly Worcester Voices, demonstrates a track record of culturally sensitive, community-focused storytelling that aligns directly with Interwoven Arts’ values. His drone capability supports aerial site mapping and capture at venues such as Arley Arboretum.
James and Dan Gauden have a long-standing working relationship across multiple projects. Dan has worked as sound engineer for James on a number of film projects, and James shot and directed the 2018 festival tour documentary for Dan’s band Arcadia Roots — Arcadia Roots — Take You Higher (2018 Festival Tour Documentary).
